Expressive Typography
Students learned how typography is the artful arrangement of letters and words and how to make written language legible, readable, and visually appealing. They were guided to design a word as an image using various typographic techniques, such as scaling, arrangement, and kerning. Students typeset their words in Google Docs and used a graphite transfer technique to transfer them onto paper. Students illustrated their words using technical pens and Sharpies, focusing on both the expression of their words and neatness. Students also had the opportunity to sketch the letters for their words freehand and design a font using this method.
